It is a retail event during which shops offer special discounts. There is also a large fireworks display during the festival. Emirates was a partner of the event and displayed additional decals for 9 years between 1998 and 2007. The design of the decals included the year and only slightly changed over the years. The 2006 edition was cancelled due to the death of Dubai's ruler at the time. The stickers could typically be seen on the aircraft during Winter and sometimes early Spring.
