The 4th special livery unveiled by Hainan Airlines was the result of a design competition. Junior high school student Liu Sisi from a Haikou school (Hainan Island) won the contest and was awarded free Hainan tickets, as were the 10 following contestants.
As orchids often grow in mountains and deep valleys, they are regarded as noble and pure. In Chinese traditions the orchid is often associated with chaste and undefiled characters as well as people quietly elegant and not angling for praise, and the Chinese name of this livery also means figuratively tender-hearted and honest.
