B-HOX’s special livery commemorated the handover of HK back to China in 1997, as it was the case with predecessor B-HIB. The young athlete on the plane was overcoming a series of challenges to reach his goal, symbolizing the challenges of young Hong Kong in mainland China at that time. The slogan in Chinese on the starboard side could literally be translated as "Be proactive, Fly Higher Ideals"; titles were in English on the port side.
