The East Asian Games is a multi-sport event which took place every four years between 1993 and 2013. Between 8 and 10 Far East Nations had their athletes competing in about 20 sports, including traditionnal sports as well as bowling, dragon boat, taekwondo and wushu (kung fu). From 2019 on, the event becomes the East Asian Youth Games.
The 2005 edition had Pak Pak the squirrel as the official mascot. Macau ranked 5th out of 9 nations in the tournament, a remarkably good place for such a small territory.
