A very first retro scheme appeared in Europe in April 2005 when D-AIRX was unveil in this 50s scheme to celebrate the airline's 50th anniversary. On April 1st, the aircraft performed a celebration flight routing HAM-DUS-FRA-MUC as LH1955, the exact itinerary of the first post-WWII Lufthansa flight in 1955 (onboard a Convair 340). Anticipating the repaint of D-AIRX in standard colours in 2014, brand new A321 D-AIDV was delivered in the same retro scheme directly from Airbus in 2012.
