The two first new-generation 737 of the ANA Group wore a special golden livery, an auspicious colour in Asia. They were operated by subsidiary Air Nippon and mainly served the Nagoya-Taipei route. The gold colour was also reportedly linked to the Shachihoko (an animal in Japanese folklore with the head of a tiger and the body of a carp) adorning the roof of the Nagoya Castle.
