This first special livery for TransAsia was an initiative to promote travel and tourism. The paint was sponsored by Master Card, Howard Hotel and EzTravel whose logos were displayed on the engines (after 2003, only the Master Card logos remained). The livery is a wink to French writer and pioneering aviator Antoine de St. Exupéry’s masterpiece The Little Prince, a 1943 novel which was very popular in Taiwan in the 2000s. This livery is often referred to as "Night & Day". Note the transition on the nose section was smooth at first, and sharper later as the livery was slightly adjusted.
