The 2026 iteration of the Spirit of Hong Kong scheme was unveiled in Hong Kong on March 9, 2026 as part of the airline's 80th anniversary celebrations. The artwork showcases Hong Kong’s Cultural Vibrancy to the World; it is the result of cooperation with the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority.
The livery features an abstract artwork by Hong Kong multimedia artist Victor Wong using technology that allows him to generate landscapes from geographical data he provides. WestK comprises a mix of landmark arts and cultural facilities spanning 40 hectares alongside Victoria Harbour.

This very "light" version of the Spirit of Hong Kong series was unveiled in 2017 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Hong Kong SAR. The livery was designed to symbolize the spirit of the city and its people, featuring a modern design based on a traditional depiction of clouds and the Bauhinia flower, the emblem of Hong Kong (also seen on the SAR's red flag). A Cathay Dragon A330 wore a red variation of the livery.

B-HOX’s special livery commemorated the handover of HK back to China in 1997, as it was the case with predecessor B-HIB. The young athlete on the plane was overcoming a series of challenges to reach his goal, symbolizing the challenges of young Hong Kong in mainland China at that time. The slogan in Chinese on the starboard side could literally be translated as "Be proactive, Fly Higher Ideals"; titles were in English on the port side.

This scheme was Cathay’s very first special livery. The design was commissionned by the airline and freelance artist Annie Lee On-nei was its author. As the territory was being handed-over back to China, the livery was unveiled on June 20, 1997 to convey a message of faith in the future of the city (which could be read in Chinese on the port side of the plane but was not translated in English on the plane). The registration of the plane changed from VR- prefix to B- on July 1st, 1997.
In 2000 and 2013 two subsequent redesigns of that concept were unveiled. It is interesting to note that over the years, the people have become more prominent than the skyline on the livery. Between 2002 and 2013, the airline used a more abstract design to promote HK as «Asia’s World City».
