Iberia is a partner of the RFEF (Real Federación Española de Fútbol), the governing body of football in Spain, which is also responsible for appointing the management of the Spanish national football team, and acted as official carrier for the team during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. First special titles on EC-IOB were added to support the team before the competition: "Siempre con la Selección" (Forever with the team) while EC-KZI featured the RFEF logo only; EC-LEV had special titles added to celebrate the victory of the team: "Orgullosos de nuestra selección - Campeones" (Proud of our team - Champions). The latter was the aircraft which carried the team back home from South Africa.

The Formula 1 made its debut in the United Arab Emirates in 2009 at the Abu Dhabi Yas Marina Circuit built for the occasion. As the state airline Etihad was a logical sponsor choice and the partnership has continued since. The titles included the current year and were changed accordingly. This aircraft made a low-pass on the occasion of the first Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on November 1, 2009.
This special -on the flagship of the airline at the time- was unveiled at Airbus' Hamburg Finkenwerder plant in early 2009 and helped Etihad raise the global awareness of its relatively young brand.

Shangha-headquartered China Eastern Airlines was a logical sponsor for the 2010 World Fair. After unveiling this specially painted A340 in March 2006, two specials were added in 2009 with 3 more joining in 2010. All those designs were part of a large advertisement campaign aimed at raising China Eastern brand awareness accross China and the World.
Green and orange were the distinctive colors of the Expo 2010, and in this first design they were blended with the red, gold and blue colours of China Eastern. This A340 was undoubtedly the most widely known of the Expo 2010 liveries, serving the international flagship routes of the airline for almost 10 years, even long after the Expo and until the type was finally retired.
