In 2021 JAL, J-Air and JAC all added stickers to an aircraft each to support the next batch of World Natural Heritage Registration in the Okinawa & Kagoshima Prefectures. The area concerned by the registration consisted of Amami Ōshima Island, Tokunoshima Island, the northern part of Okinawa Island and Iriomote Island. The three mascots present on the decals were: Kui-chan (Okinawa Rail), Amakuro (Amami rabbit) and Yamaneko Maya (Iriomote).

In parallel with the full special scheme unveiled on JA11RK at JTA, J-Air and JAC unveiled small stickers showing their support for the campaign for a designated area in Okinawa & Kagoshima Prefectures to be registered a World Natural Heritage Site. The area consists of Amami Ōshima Island, Tokunoshima Island, the northern part of Okinawa Island and Iriomote Island. These were modified to #4 when the sites were officially registered.

This was JAL's initiative in the aftermath of the 2018 Hokkaido Eastern Iburi earthquake which happened on September 6 and killed 41, mostly because of landslides in the area. JAL, J-Air & JAC incentives were in the form of lower airfares and campaigns to stimulate tourism to the island to help reconstruction. Note the decals were particularly small on the Saab.

JAC painted one of its brand new ATRs in this "stork" livery to promote its flights to the small Tajima airport where it operates the only scheduled flight (to Osaka-Itami). The special paint was designed by the airline in cooperation with Tajima airport and the local tourism board. The aircraft was welcomed by local pupils upon arrival. The Oriental Stork is a symbol of the region.

Segodon is a Japanese television series starring Ryohei Suzuki and Fumi Nikaidō. It is the 57th taiga drama (an annual year-long historical fiction television drama) of the NHK network. The two sides were different with two characters seen in typical Amami Islands scenery.

The two first brand new ATRs of JAC were painted at Toulouse in a special Hibiscus livery in partnership with the Tara Design College of Kagoshima, the main base of JAC. The hibiscus is the "municipal" flower in many island communities JAC serves in the Kagoshima prefecture. The hisbiscus on the port side mirrors the shape of the islands of the prefecture on a map. Note the two sides are different.

Okinoerabujima is one of the Satsunan Islands, classed with the Amami archipelago between Kyūshū and Okinawa. This special decal was unveiled when the Okinoerabu Airport (served by JAC) was officially named Eburu Yuri Island Airport (えらぶゆりの島空港). Eburu Yuri is a species of white lilly which is native to Okinoerobu.

Takeda Castle is a ruined castle in the city of Asago, north of Kyoto. This scenic spot is served by JAC via Tajima Airport, which is linked to Osaka-Itami. Note the special decal was featured in very small size on the port side. In 2015/2016 the Tajima Airport Council held a photo contest in which JA8642 with the special Takeda Castle decal was to be included. Winners were awarded free Tajima beef pieces (!).

 The United Nations Earth creatures Conference (COP10) was held in Nagoya in 2010 and highlighted the importance of biological diversity. JAL teamed up with the Kameda Seika food company for the event and their "Happy Turn" snacks were served onboard the planes during Summer 2010. Origami representing animals were also available onboard for children.

This design was the result of a local contest among children from Toyooka Elementary School near Tajima, Hyogo Prefecture and won by Akana Yamamoto. The Oriental white storks, a Japanese Special Natural Monument, are now bred and raised in the local Hyogo Park after having gone extinct from the region. In an ironic turn of events on November 29th, 2009, this aircraft suffered a birdstrike -probably with a heron- during takeoff at Izumi; it left substantial damage to the airplane including a 14x18 centimeter dent left of the nose cone.

Three of the four last YS-11 in passenger service with JAC received large farewell titles for their last months of operations, during which they operated mostly from Fukuoka. The last flight occured on September 30, 2006 after no less than 40 years of service (the first passenger flight took place in 1965).
