Volaris began operations in Central America in 2015 through Volaris Mexico (IATA Y4). In 2016 Volaris Costa Rica was launched (IATA Q6) and in 2019 Volaris El Salvador was founded. The subsidiary began operating the San Salvador-Mexico City route in September 2021 with the San Salvador-Cancun and San Salvador-San Pedro Sula following shortly after. The airline efforts to increase tourism to the country are supported by the Salvadoran government, hence the flag livery.
The scheme was simplified in 2025 with only the Salvadoran flag remaining.

The film is a combination of live-action, traditional hand-drawn animation, and 3D CGI effects. It features basketball player LeBron James and the Looney Tunes. The cabin was also decorated accordingly and animations were performed on selected flights. Note the two sides showed different decals.
