Merry Christmas

all 5
1992-93

The first Compass Airlines low-fare start-up (flying A300s and an A310) had been grounded just before Christmas 1991 by the Australian CAA. Although mostly un-related, a second Compass Airlines airline was launched in 1992 with 5 MD-80s. It is unknown if it was a wink to the highly conservative authorities, but for Christmas 1992 all five aircraft received Santa's hats. Compass would fold just a few months later in spring 1993.

Every October since 1986/87 British Airways organizes a special flight to Orlando on behalf of the Dreamflight charity launched by now retired flight attendant Patricia Pearce. Volunteering cabin crew take several children with serious illness or disability, without their parents, on the holiday of a lifetime at the Disneyland theme park in Florida.

The aircraft operating theses services usually have small multi-colour titles added above the wings (2004 was the exception with burgundy titles); the 10th, 20th & 25th Dreamflights also had appropriate special markings. Note the design of the titles has been varying only subtly over the years. The titles typically remain on the aircraft just a few days/weeks; on some occasions it was a few months, and in 2009/10 a whole year (*).
