China Airlines was the third airline to join the “Pokémon Air Adventures” of The Pokémon Company after Skymark and Scoot. The initiative was taken to accompany Asian passengers in their long-awaited return to the freedom of the skies after the COVID-19 pandemic. The purple background with twinkling stars evokes the pre-dawn sky. Eleven Pokémon are featured on the plane, including Flying Pikachu, Shaymin, Swablu, Togekiss, Munna, Jigglypuff, Snorlax, Slowpoke and Teddiursa. The two sides are different. The partnership includes inflight amenities with Pokemon designs, activities, as well as dual branded original merchandise sold onboard.

2022 was Year of the Tiger in the Chinese Zodiac and Tigerair Taiwan celebrated the New Year with this special scheme designed by Taiwanese calligrapher Tong Yang-tze. As the Covid-19 pandemic prompted the halt of most international flights the airline mostly operated for Mandarin Airlines on flights to Kinmen Islands.

The first special livery for low-cost operator Tigerair Taiwan appeared in March 2021 with large decals supporting the Rakuten Monkeys baseball team from Taoyuan. Note the registration was moved to the forward part of the fuselage to accomodate the decal of the monkey. In 2023 a slightly modified scheme appeared on sistership B-50018, this time with a white underside.

Mirroring the Boeing House Livery of one of its 777s, China Airlines unveiled this carbon fiber livery blending with its corporate scheme, celebrating the airline's 14th and final A350 delivery as well as its close partnership with Airbus. The registration of the plane features two 18s, which is considered very auspicious in Asia.

The Blue Magpie (Urocissa caerulea) is usually considered to be the "national bird" of Taiwan.
Taiwan is known for its many endemic bird species and China Airlines teamed up with the Chinese Wild Bird Society to select 20+ bird species. The two first species were chosen in-house while the general public was asked to vote for the following 12 bird species to be applied to the remaining A350s of the airline. However the last part of the campaign never materialized.

China Airlines launched this special livery to promote the Kaohsiung to Kumamoto service it launched in 2017. Taiwan, the City of Kaohsiung and the Kumamoto province in Japan all have bears as mascots and CAL gathered them all on a fun design. From left to right on the port side the characters were OhBear (Taiwan), Kumamon (Kumamoto) and Hero (Kaohsiung). The left side also showed Kyushu landmarks, namely the Kumamoto Castle and Mt. Aso volcano. The starboard side displayed Kaohsiung's 85 Sky Tower. The interior of the aircraft also included customized headrest covers, and special three-bear products and meals were available onboard the plane.
