One of the earliest retrojets to appear, this factory-fresh 757 received the 1959 Astrojet livery to celebrate American's 40 years of jet service. The aircraft performed its first test flight on December 15, 1998 and was delivered on January 15, 1999.

It is unclear to me if these special titles were indeed to celebrate New Year 1999... C-FNVT was in a NWT Air hybrid scheme (with the AC tail) while C-GNWN had a basic white livery.

Christmas

C-GONJ
1998-99

Air Canada commuter partner Air Ontario introduced short-lived Christmas liveries in the late ninetees. This first design included a reindeer head with a red nose. The name of this airframe was tweaked to City of Sarnia via North Pole for the occasion. The same aircraft would receive special decals three years in a row.

Little Europe

D-ACJH
1998-10

This special scheme was unveiled when CityLine celebrated its 40th anniversary in 1998. The airline can indeed trace its history back to taxi operator Ostfriesische Lufttaxi which started operations in Emden in November 1958. Later the venture became OLT and while local Emden operations mostly remained under the OLT name, regional operations soon started under the DLT brand, which in turn started to cooperate with Lufthansa. The DLT brand disappeared in 1992 when the airline became Lufthansa CityLine.

The two sides of this special livery were different and displayed European landmarks served by the carrier: the Little Mermaid, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Brandenburg Gate, Saint Basil's Cathedral (Moscow), the Wiener Riesenrad, the Cologne Cathedral, the Atomium (Brussels), Big Ben, the Eiffel Tower and the Colosseum.

The Dubai Shopping Festival is an annual month-long event taking place in the first quarter of the year since 1996. It is a retail event during which shops offer special discounts. There is also a large fireworks display during the festival.

Emirates was a partner of the event and displayed additional decals for 9 years between 1998 and 2007. The design of the decals included the year and only slightly changed over the years. The 2006 edition was cancelled due to the death of Dubai's ruler at the time. The stickers could typically be seen on the aircraft during Winter and sometimes early Spring.
