Tengchong   腾冲号

B-1461
2017-

The Tengchong region in Yunnan province is depicted in this livery with elements of pastoral life. The rear part refers to the hot springs and ancient roads the area is known for. The usual red colour of the Kunming Airlines livery has been amended to blue to echo the fact that Tengchong is one of China's three biggest geothermal areas, and water is rich in cobalt among others.

Honghe Nativeland   红河水乡号

B-1991
2016-23

The region advertised here was the Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture in the Yunnan province. Its name comes from the Hong River (aka the Red River) flowing accross the land. The Hani and the Yi are two ethnic minority groups who live in the area; they are represented on the livery by two mascots. The main colour of the scheme was the Kunming Blue, while white clouds and plum blossom patterns emphasized the fresh air and beautiful scenery of the region.

The area is mostly famous for the Honghe Hani Rice Terraces. The terraces’ history spans around 1,200 years. In 2013, the Honghe Hani Rice Terraces were listed as a World Heritage Site. Note AirAsia of Malaysia had unveiled two A320s in a similar scheme earlier in 2016.
