Bird of Paradise

This A300 leased from TAA was the only large aircraft of Air Niugini in the mid-80s. In November 1984, it was unveiled in a distinctive livery never to be used on smaller planes. The greater bird-of-paradise is an endemic bird of New Guinea & Indonesia measuring up to 43cm long. This aircraft was nicknamed «Big Bird».

Singapore celebrates 25 Years of Nation Building

The theme for the National Day celebrations in 1984 was 25 Years of Nation Building, 1959 - 1984. It is unclear how many A300 sported the decals, minimum 2 out of 8 at the time of the celebrations.

Vancouver -the base of CP Air- was the host city of the 1986 World's Fair, also known as The 1986 World Exposition on Transportation and Communication. It took place between May and October 1986 and CP Air was a partner of the event, which coincided with Vancouver's centennial.

Happy 50th birthday!

PSA was a partner of Walt Disney Studios in 1984 when the latter celebrated Donald Duck's 50th Birthday. On that occasion Donald Duck (in live form) went on an international tour through Europe, Japan and parts of the United States, using this 727 for the last part.
