Toronto is the birthplace of Drake and the party was hosted by Virgin Group Founder Sir Richard Branson, Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger and Drake; the flight was the first international destination for the California-based airline.

Virgin America teamed up with fashion company Victoria's Secret for its yearly fashion show held on 15 November 2007. The airline carried 27 of its models from New York to Los Angeles on a special flight. Titles were short-lived yet the aircraft kept its "Runway Angel" name after that.

The launch of Virgin America was postponed many times due to delays in getting the necessary DOT approval. The management launched the www.letvafly.com website in the meantime, where people could show their support of the airline's launch. Titles were removed prior to the operations' debut in August 2007.
