The design of the livery includes a silver star (a reference to the state's nickname, The Silver State) and the “Battle Born” banner referring to Nevada’s birth as a state during the Civil War in 1864. Green sagebrush (the state flower) with yellow flowers is dislayed around the star as it is on the flag. Note this aircraft never gained American titles in 2013-15 before being repainted in the standard AA scheme.

Allegheny Airways started operations in 1957 and changed its name to US Air in 1979. Originally based in Pittsburgh, it is at the core of US Airways' heritage. In 2014 titles were changed to American. In 2023 the special scheme was moved to an A321.

The airline painted smiles on the nose of its aircraft and nicknamed them "Smileliners". In 2014 titles were changed to American. In 2023 the scheme was transferred to an A321.
