Dubai Summer Surprises is an annual festival event that was launched in the Summer of 1998 by the Dubai government in order to promote Dubai as a family holiday destination, as well as increase the attractivity of the city during the very hot summer.

It was associated with special sales from retailers. The event logo was associated with a mascot named Modhesh, which is Arabic for amazing. Emirates was a partner of the event since 1999 and the design of the decals remained the same for the 8 editions until 2006. Note the A310 had a different version of the sticker with the titles underneath the logo due to the lack of space.

The Dubai Shopping Festival is an annual month-long event taking place in the first quarter of the year since 1996. It is a retail event during which shops offer special discounts. There is also a large fireworks display during the festival.

Emirates was a partner of the event and displayed additional decals for 9 years between 1998 and 2007. The design of the decals included the year and only slightly changed over the years. The 2006 edition was cancelled due to the death of Dubai's ruler at the time. The stickers could typically be seen on the aircraft during Winter and sometimes early Spring.
