Moomins are the central characters in a series of books and a comic strip by Swedish-speaking Finnish illustrator and writer Tove Jansson. They have appeared on Finnair planes several times through the 1990s and 2000s as part of promotionnal campaigns and were a logical addition to the centennial celebrations of the airline. Main characters Moomintroll and Snorkmaiden could be seen sharing a hug aft of the plane on these two A350s.

Marimekko is a Finnish design company based in Helsinki that has made important contributions to fashion, especially in the 1960s. Since 2012 the iconic Marimekko patterns can be seen on tableware and textiles inside Finnair aircraft. Kivet is Finnish for "stones". The Marimekko website states that "Maija Isola created the Kivet fabric in 1956 by cutting out rounds of coloured paper with scissors. The print’s shapes likely originate from the large, rough-edged stones cleared from the site of the artist´s studio home."

"Unikko" is finnish for poppy, and is one of their most widely known design pattern. Since 2012 both firms cooperate and the iconic Marimekko patterns can be seen on tableware and textiles inside Finnair aircraft.This is a second, blue and green version of the pattern, released for the 50th anniversary of the brand's iconic poppy pattern.

This livery was short-lived because of copyright issues related to the authenticity of the Metsanvaki design.

The company that created the Angry Birds game and Finnair teamed up to create a one-time “Angry Birds Asian Challenge” during a flight from Helsinki to Singapore on September 20, 2011. The stickers were different on the two sides of the fuselage, and remained on the plane for about 3 months.

After a first batch of aircraft between 1995 & 1999, Finnair applied two new & different sets of Moomins decals to this aircraft and OH-LGB. Santa stickers replaced Moomins in Winter 2006.

After a first batch of aircraft between 1995 & 1999, Finnair applied two new & different sets of Moomins decals to this aircraft and OH-LGF. Santa stickers replaced Moomins in Winter 2006 and the characters were finally back in 2008, yet with slightly different colors shades. An A340 had the same decals applied in 2008.

In 2005 Finnair started a second batch of Santa liveries. By Christmas 2005 all six MD-11 in the fleet had the sitckers added. Two aircraft got the stickers for Xmas 2006, and three for Xmas 2007.
