Featuring 50 Singaporean "heroes" on a local bird in time for the Singapore Jubilee celebrations. The scheme was designed by local artist Michael Ng. The pop art-style livery was inspired by the black-naped oriole bird, a common garden bird in Singapore. Half of the citizens featured were people living abroad and selected by Jetstar Asia to be flown back to Singapore for free to spend National Day with their loved ones. The other half were selected for their social engagement among many nominated as “everyday heroes” by their family and friends.

On September 4, 1998, Singapore Airlines unveiled 9V-SPL in this striking scheme. The special paint was designed to celebrate the launch of the upgrade of all of the airline's onboard products in late 1998. The stylized 'FC' at the front, palm tree and stylized 'E' aft of the wing respectively referred to the First Class, Raffles Class (Business) and Economy Class. The scheme itself was said to have been inspired by a tropical sunrise, from where it took its name. The Singapore motto 'A great way to fly' was modified for the occasion. Sadly 9V-SPK crashed during take off in Taipei in October 2000, after what SIA quickly repainted sistership SPL in standard livery.
